We have a heartwarming conversation with Reitumetse Moeng about her motherhood journey, the world of pageantry, future plans, and more!

Congratulations on being a semifinalist for the 2024 Dallmayr Mrs South Africa beauty pageant! What was your initial reaction to the news and what inspired you to enter the competition?
For the first time since COVID-19, Mrs SA has its public national casting at ClearWater mall in Johannesburg. When my name was announced as a Semi-Finalist, I was excited, elated to say the least. For me, it was not only about the glitz and glamour that comes with pageantry. I wanted to lend my voice to those rendered powerless, to be a beacon of hope and restoration, a story ending with “it’s possible”. I believed that it was time for God to shine through me and use me in this platform and that is what motivated me to enter the competition.

What are some of the lessons that you learned from the pageant, be it about pageantry or about yourself?

I learned that pageantry is a whole transformational experience, not just about the crown. I had to jump loops and stretch myself to points that I never knew I would stretch to and that boosted my confidence. Confidence to step out and pursue my passion.

Being a mom, how do you balance your duties with your career?

I’m a firm believer in having a daily routine for myself and the kids. That helps me separate the work that I need to do from my duties at home. And fortunately, I’m blessed with a very hands-on husband, who always steps in to help me whenever I need help. In his words “Focus on what you need to do right now, I’ll take care of the kids.”

There is a misconception that being a mother automatically means having to give up on your dreams. How did you rise above this narrative?

I believe that you don’t become a mother and give up on your dreams. Mothers are the heartbeat of our communities. They are carriers, nurturers, and leaders who have children that look up to them. By pursuing her dreams, she automatically encourages her children to do the same. If one mother is empowered, a whole nation that comes out of her will be empowered as well.

What do you love most about being a mom?

Being a mom had definitely strengthened my relationship with God. I look at my kids and I’m always reminded of how God has favoured me and trusted me to raise them in His ways. The Bible says “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.” Psalms 127:3-4

Being a mom can also have its challenges. What have you found difficult about the journey?

I can definitely attest that raising 3 kids (ages 2, 4,6) is definitely not easy. Even in the best of circumstances, I often find myself feeling overwhelmed and being overcome by mom guilt.

Having a supportive partner can help in achieving your dreams and potential. How has your husband’s support helped you in that regard?

My husband has been my biggest supporter, whenever I’m feeling down, or troubled, he always encourages me with the Word of God and reminds me of God’s promises.

What are your future aspirations for your kids?

I believe in purposeful living and I aspire for my kids to live fully aligned with the purpose they came here on earth for.

What advice do you have for women who want to be moms and would still like to have a successful career as well?

By pursuing your passion and pushing yourself to achieve greatness, you are not only enriching your own life but you also inspire those that are around to do the same. Dreams are possible, stay dedicated and embrace being a woman and a mother.

You have already done exceptionally well in pageantry this year. What more can we expect from you in 2024?

Through the Mrs South Africa, many doors have opened for me. I’ve already started working with a few brands as a brand ambassador. I am now a model and a speaker, so you can expect to see more of me at events and hopefully on your television screens!
