The universe has responded to Blue Mbombo’s desire for twinning outfits and matching mommy and daughter goals! The Model, businesswoman and former reality TV star recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl by the name of Duchess into the world and as mentioned in our previous Batswadi cover piece, took some time off to honour infancy traditions of her IsiXhosa/SeSotho lineage.

Beaming with unbridled excitement and reflective stance,  Duchess has surprised her mother with a bright, receptive and warm energy to those who have been graced with her presence while teaching her mother a thing or two she previously did not know about herself such as patience. Blue caught up with Batswadi to share her intuitive and serene journey of motherhood thus far.

Batswadi: Congratulations again on the birth of your baby girl and thank you for giving us yet another exclusive on your motherhood journey. The past 5 months have been?

Blue: The past 5 months have been nothing but total bliss. I’ve always thought I knew what love is until I met my daughter. I’ve never been this blessed.

Batswadi: What have you learnt about yourself since becoming a mother?

Blue: Patience I didn’t know I could have so much patience.

Batswadi: What’s the biggest misconception about having a newborn?

Blue: The biggest misconception about having a newborn is that your life stops. That’s not true, your child has to fit into your life, not the other way around. People make it your whole life must only be about the newborn, I guess that’s why there’s a lot of postpartum depression and anxiety with your new moms.

Batswadi: What do you wish you knew before your baby arrived?

Blue: You will listen to everyone’s advice but you will always trust your instincts when making final decisions about your child.

Batswadi: Has your baby started developing a personality? How would you describe her?

Blue: She definitely has a personality. She’s such a happy baby, and extremely friendly, she literally laughs and smiles with everyone.

Batswadi: What’s next for Blue?

Blue: There’s so much in store for Blue, all I can say for now is that people must be on the lookout for my next exciting news on my social media pages.
