Olwethu Shabalala Speaks on Her Transformation Now that She is a Mom
Share

Doing life with your mini-me can be exciting. As they’re growing and learning new things, so are you. The joy of motherhood is one best told through the little gummy smiles. Their happiness becomes the most essential part of your day. After that, life is never the same again.
For Olwethu, she’s still in disbelief that she is a mother, a surreal fact to wrap her head around. Her daughter, Swelihle, has transformed her in the best way imaginable. She recognises her growth and is embracing it with open arms.
We found out more about this gorgeous mother-daughter pair as they gear up for their first Mother’s Day together.

Describe your experience of motherhood so far in one word.
Journey.
What’s something about motherhood you wish you knew before having your little one?
Just how much it would change me as a person. I can honestly say I’ve grown so much more and I look at life differently. It’s so crazy how I used to put myself first and now I have a whole human to always put first.
What’s the one thing you’re enjoying about being a mom?
Honestly, everything. Even the bad days when she drives me insane. At the end of the day she just makes everything better.
What’s the one lesson your mother has given you about parenthood that you will keep with you forever?
Your children before anything!
How do you feel about experiencing your very first Mother’s Day?
Oh my goodness. Honestly, I don’t know how to feel. I’m still in disbelief that I’m a mom. I think it’ll kick in once she can talk and she starts calling me ‘ma’. I’ll definitely be so awkward on Mother’s Day.
What would you like to say to your baby this Mother’s Day?
Thank you for making my life so much better. I love you so much, you are my world.
