Tebello Moloi on redefining style and self as a new mom

From high school fashion days to motherhood’s new chapter, Tebello embraces change with grace, confidence, and timeless style.
For as long as she can remember, Tebello Moloi has been in love with clothes. Her fashion story began back in high school, where “civvies days” became more than just an excuse to ditch uniforms. For her and her friends, those occasions were a runway — complete with themes, magazine cut-outs, and lunchtime photo sessions.
“We’d check what Bonang was wearing and figure out how to make it work for us,” she recalls with a smile. During those days, even when money wasn’t always on her side, creativity was and that laid the foundation for the fashion-forward woman she is today.

Years later, with her own income, Tebello went through what she calls her “wild years,” chasing every new drop, until she slowly found her style and leaned into it. Today, she describes her look as “trendy-classic.” She loves to keep up with what’s fresh but with intention, preferring pieces that are timeless, elegant and still a little fun.
She’s long moved on from her varsity days of tiny skirts and bodycon dresses. These days, her wardrobe is more refined: stylish, but always presentable.
“I’m a mom, I’m a wife — I want to reflect that, while still looking cool,” she explains.

“Six months later, I realised I had judged my mom body too soon,” she admits. But in hindsight, that purge brought clarity. It allowed her to declutter, step away from fast fashion, and rebuild a wardrobe that speaks to who she is now. “I had to rediscover myself. But it was a good reset. I found my new self in clothes that feel true to me.”
For Tebello, fashion is more than fabric — it’s empowerment.
“When I’m dressed up, I feel like my alter ego comes alive,” she laughs. “I’m always confident, but when my look comes together, it adds a few more notches.”
She swears by staples like a black blazer — versatile, timeless and forever chic. “I own them in different cuts. You can dress them up or down, and they never fail.”

Her fashion inspo ight now? Pamela Mtanga, for her relatable trendy-classic looks, and Siya Bunny, for her magazine-cut elegance that inspires those extra-polished moments.
Of course, looking good is not always effortless when juggling motherhood and work. There are days when deadlines pile up, or her son needs her full attention.
“On those days, I keep it simple — jeans, a clean white shirt, and making sure it’s ironed,” she says with a laugh. The secret, she shares, is presenting herself as put-together, even if the day is chaotic, whether emotionally or physically.
“No one needs to know the struggles we go through as moms. I want to show up how I’d like to be seen.”

When it comes to beauty, Tebello proves less is more. Her skincare routine is simple: a glycerine soap, a Ponds moisturiser and Bio-Oil for at night. She’s admits that she once tried the TikTok skincare trends, but breakouts quickly convinced her to stick to what works.
“It’s not because my skin is bad — I just don’t like to complicate things. But as a woman, I do believe in having a beauty routine, even if it’s simple.”
Through every stage of her life — high school, varsity, career woman, wife and now mom — Tebello’s fashion has evolved alongside her. She doesn’t shy away from change. Instead, she embraces it, finding confidence in new ways to express herself. And in her story lies a lesson every woman can relate to: style is not about chasing everything new, but about wearing clothes that honour who you are becoming.
