New Mother Karabo Phiri Unpacks The Overwhelming Yet Joyous Journey Of Motherhood

Share

Many mothers would agree that being a boy mom can be challenging yet equally fulfilling. A boy child’s first love is their mommy. There is so much to teach them about the world they inhabit while preserving their innocence. For example, reminding them often that their feelings are valid and it’s okay not to be okay.

Karabo shares with us her feelings about stepping into her new role as a mother and about her first Mother’s Day.

Describe your experience of motherhood so far in one word.

LOVE.

What’s something about motherhood you wish you knew before having your little one?

There is no formula to motherhood. Infact, nothing can ever fully prepare you for the experience. You literally learn and unlearn as you go.

What’s the one thing you’re enjoying about being a mom?

Experiencing our first milestones together like seeing his vision  become better, seeing him smile and laugh, and listening to him attempt to babble while we make conversation.

What’s the one lesson your mother has given you about parenthood that you will keep with you forever?

That prayer is the most important thing to practice

How do you feel about experiencing your very first Mother’s Day?

I’m extremely excited to be experiencing my first Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to experience the love and warmth from friends and family.

What would you like to say to your baby this Mother’s Day?

Baby Oreo, I had no idea I could love someone as much as I love you. The past 2 months have been amazing and mommy is excited to spend the rest of her life with you. To our many firsts, to learning and unlearning, to laughter, fun, growth, love and more.

I love you Fanas wa mama
